Blessed to Bless

It’s true that many people own a Bible; it’s also true that many of them have not read it. Blessed to Bless by Tim Sean Youmans, originally written with 5th to 8th graders in mind, is the perfect, reader-friendly guide to what’s in those 66 books of the Bible.

Starting with the story of Creation and ending with the highly symbolic imagery of Revelation, this book encompasses the journey of the people of God between these two biblical bookends.

Although the book follows a chronological path through the scriptures, the short chapters can be used individually if studying a particular character or theme. Each of these chapters starts with a Scripture passage for the reader to look at first, followed by an explanation of that passage. Simple and easy to understand, Blessed to Bless also notes if there is more than one interpretation of a particular scripture passage. In addition, a free Leader’s Guide is available to download.

Covering well known stories such as Noah, The Tower of Babel, Jacob, Isaac, and Moses, it also brings to life the less known times and characters like the judges, Gideon, Jepthah, and Job. It also delves into the life of Jesus, his birth, his teachings, his parables, his death and resurrection, as well as the stories of the apostles spreading the good news throughout the known world. Each chapter ends with thought-provoking, open-ended questions challenging readers for their own opinions. There are no right or wrong answers.

After finishing this book, readers will have a basic knowledge of the stories, themes, and rhythm of the Bible. It’s a great resource for Tweens and Teens as well as adults who are interested in the Bible but who haven’t really been introduced to the Scriptures. It may prompt a yearning for more and reading through the Word of God.
