In our consumerism culture it is easy for the church to offer more and more ministries and programs, seeking to be all things to all people. The result is often a congregation, or ministry, going a mile wide and an inch deep. For faithful and fruitful ministry to happen, we must continually practice the pruning principle. Instead of piling on programs, we are called to prune and streamline ministries as guided by our respective God-given vision. In this difficult, yet liberating, pruning work we experience the elimination of ministry clutter.
