How to create a fresh and effective electronic newsletter using Mailchimp – a free, web-based email newsletter platform.

The Rev. Jo Nygard Owens joined the Cathedral as Pastor for Digital Ministry in October 2023. In this newly created position, Rev. Owens will serve those who worship digitally at Washington National Cathedral by extending the mission and ministry of the Cathedral into the digital space.

Prior to joining the Cathedral staff, Jo founded Vibrant Church Communications, where she created resources for churches across denominations and around the world. She served as associate pastor at Guilford Park Presbyterian Church and Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church. Owens also served as Communications Coordinator at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Greensboro.

Owens was ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 2007. She received a Bachelor of Arts with a media focus from the University of Georgia (2003), and a Master of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary (2006). Jo’s husband, the Rev. Bernard J. Owens, is the dean of Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland, Ohio. They live in Cleveland with their two school-aged children.
