To help the post-covid church to recover and grow, we need to have a greater focus on relationships—to support people to develop deeper and more diverse connections. Too often, we hear from people that church can be a lonely place. Now is the perfect time to make church more relational! This session will give an overview of how a church can become a hub of connection, including ways to create space for meaningful conversations, offer connection-friendly activities and small groups, engage in efforts to address social isolation, and strengthen relationships with neighbors and partners in the community.

About the Presenter

Joy Skjegstad is a consultant, author, trainer and coach who helps churches develop strategic vision and connect to their communities in creative ways. With over 30 years of experience, she has helped hundreds of churches and nonprofits to gain focus and grow. Other books by Joy: 7 Creative Models for Community Ministry, Winning Grants to Strengthen Your Ministry, and Starting a Nonprofit at Your Church.

Heidi Unruh is a trainer and coach, walking with ministry leaders from ideas to action. She develops practical resources to help churches care well for their communities, with a special passion for asset-based ministry with vulnerable families. Her books include Churches That Make a Difference, Hope for Children in Poverty, and Equipping Christians for Kingdom Purpose in Their Work.
